TOM PETERSON, LEED AP
Like a lot of people in the industry, Tom Peterson’s interest in construction began as a kid when he could often be found hanging around construction sites or messing around in his dad’s hobby workshop. Tom paid his dues in the field in the 1980’s where he worked as a laborer, mason tender, carpenter, and installer of solar panels. From 1989 through 1996 he served in the non-profit world as the Housing Rehabilitation Specialist for the Burlington Community Land Trust (now the Champlain Housing Trust). Tom also served as vice-president of Prime Construction and was co-owner of a bath and kitchen remodeling franchise. He started Peterson Consulting in 2003 driven by the simple belief that projects should be as trouble-free as possible, and when they are, everybody benefits! He has served as an instructor for the National Association of Homebuilders University of Housing and his articles on the business of construction have appeared in the Journal of Light Construction, BobVila.com, and Vermont Homestyle Magazine. When he’s not on a jobsite Tom enjoys sailing on Lake Champlain and among the islands of Maine. Tom holds a USCG 50 Ton Master merchant mariner license.
Hunter is a Vermont native and a graduate of the University of Vermont with a degree in Plan & Soil Sciences and a minor in Business Administration. Hunter and Founder Tom Peterson first crossed paths in 2016 on a complex project at Champlain College where Hunter was serving as a Foreman for the Landscaping Crew. Tom was impressed with Hunter's leadership skills, knowledge, work ethic and integrity and knew that he was a perfect to serve Peterson Consulting's growing family of clients.
