Hunter Gomez is Promoted to Senior Project Manager and Named Health and Safety Officer at PCI
June 2020
Peterson Consulting, Inc. (PCI) announces the promotion of Hunter Gomez to Senior Project Manager. In this position, he will take on greater responsibility with PCI’s clients. Gomez has also been named the Health and Safety Officer of PCI. As Health and Safety Officer, Gomez has developed and continuously updates the PCI Company Safety Policy. More recently, he has focused on documenting and implementing the PCI COVID-19 Risk Mitigation and Response Plan.
“Hunter has been a tremendous asset to PCI. He takes excellent care of our clients and is always willing and able to take on any project that is put before him and is very deserving of this promotion to Senior Project Manager,” says Tom Peterson, Founder and President of PCI. “His training and experience in construction safety have prepared him well for his official role as PCI’s Health and Safety Officer.”
Gomez has been a part of the PCI team since January 2019. In his previous position as Project Manager, Gomez served many roles including Owner’s Project Manager, Owner’s Representative, and Clerk-of-the-Works. Responsible for advocating for the Owner throughout a construction project, while ensuring they receive the best possible project, at the greatest possible value. Gomez has shown initiative with health and safety practices since joining the PCI team. His leadership in this area proved that he was the right fit to serve as PCI’s Health and Safety Officer.
“The COVID-19 focus has been all about keeping people and their loved ones safe and healthy. However, given all the unknowns surrounding this deadly virus, an equally important part of the response relates to people's mental health,” said Gomez. “The PCI COVID-19 Response plan contains all the proper social distancing, personal hygiene, and personal protective equipment stipulations. But the most important thing that a safety policy can do in regard to workers’ mental health is to ensure that the practices and protocols are written and implemented such that they do not put anyone in a position which makes them uncomfortable or uncertain. This is a cornerstone of PCI’s COVID-19 plan.”
Gomez has completed numerous trainings to help improve his understanding and implementation of construction safety. These include The OSHA 10 Hour Training, The OSHA 30 Hour Training, The OSHA Excavations and Heavy Equipment Training, and The OSHA Competent Persons Training. Gomez also has previous experience writing and implementing General Contractor’s safety plans, monitoring individual company safety plans, conducting safety orientations and meetings, and performing hazard inspections.
